The course is designed to develop an artisan with knowledge, skills and attitudes to competently practice Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in the Mechanical industry. On successful completion of this course the student will have the necessary knowledge and practical skills to perform more of the advanced aspects of the trade related to central plants / ducted / indirect systems. The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems are expected to install, repair and maintain all the types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. The total duration of the course is 1520 hours spread over a period of two (2) years and one (1) year On the Job Education and Training (OJET). The course will consider gender mainstreaming, sustainable development, physical challenges, health dispositions and the intersections between race, class and culture. It shall embrace innovative heritage-based education and training philosophy to solve national problems and to produce goods and services for industrialization and modernization. Trainees are equipped with hands-on skills and are prepared to undergo trade testing for Class One (1) Skilled Worker Qualification (journeyman card) on completion of the course. This qualification empowers them to be employable in the Mechanical and Production Industry as well as start their own companies.
