The course is designed to develop a Draughtsperson with knowledge, skills and attitudes to competently practice Draughting and Design in the Mechanical Engineering industry. Draughting and Design students are trained to design and produce working drawings for manufacturing of machine components using different types of methods. The total duration of the course is 1650 notional hours spread over a period of two (2) years and one (1) year On the Job Education and Training (OJET). The course will consider gender mainstreaming, sustainable development, physical challenges, health dispositions and the intersections between race, class and culture. It shall embrace innovative heritage-based education and training philosophy to solve national problems and to produce goods and services for industrialization and modernization. Trainees are equipped with hands-on skills and are trained prepared to do engineering project costing through preparation of bill of quantities as well as recommending appropriate methods for manufacturing. This qualification empowers them to be employable in the Mechanical and Production Industry as well as start their own companies.
