Electrical Engineering Division
The department began in 1919 at HUDAGO. In 1958 it was offered as the electrician’s courses namely craft electrician’s course. In 1961 offered in the department included the Institution of Electrical Engineers, City and Guilds Electrical Engineering practice, City and Guilds Telecommunications Technician Course, City and Guilds Electrical Fitters Course and City and Guilds Electrical Installation Work. Th lecturers who taught the courses had experience in oil companies, coal, gold, and copper mines, marine research, radio broadcasting, steelworks, aircraft, shipbuilding, plastics, electronics, radar television, power stations, building construction, factory plant maintenance, railways, Navy, Army and Air Force. The division is mandated to train students to become artisans, technicians and technologists. National Certificate graduands become artisans in Electrical and Electronic Engineering fields. National Diploma Graduands become Technicians in Electrical power and Electronic Engineering fields. They then become technologists at Higher National Diploma. Electrical Engineering Division offers both day and evening engineering courses to National Certificate, National Diploma and Higher National Diploma students. Most of our National Certificate and National Diploma students are Apprentices. Discipline is a prerequisite in the electrical field for it involves dealing with live electricity. Safety Regulations and Rules are posted in the workshops and laboratories.
