Producing more than 200 skilled graduates a year, the Construction Engineering Department is among the oldest in the country. Our Construction Engineering courses combine strong theoretical foundations with effective practical, real-world work skills to give students the confidence and skills knowledge they require to contribute to economic growth. Our lecturers have extensive and impressive research backgrounds, working closely with students in their research activities. The department performs innovative research in the ever-advancing field of Construction Technology which routes from Building Technology, Plumbing & Drain Laying, Carpentry and Joinery and Painting and Decorating courses.

Head Of Division's Profile
Itimu Edson is the Head of the Department the Construction Engineering and a holder of Masters in Educational Leadership and Ethics (UZ), BED Educational Leadership and Management (GZU), HND Construction Engineering, Advanced Diploma in Technology Education from Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT).
Mr. Itimu has championed several projects at Harare Polytechnic including the Institutional Clinic, Guardroom, Gym, Water purification plant and construction of building and ablution facilities, United College of Education painting and rehabilitation project, Bindura University of Science Education building project, construction of the Lotteries and Gaming Board School in Mahusekwa. His research interests include construction engineering, educational leadership and administration.
