Structural engineering works closely with the construction industry, structural engineers play a key role in the development of new infrastructures. Geotechnical engineers are involved in all stages of the design of structures, from concept to construction. Their work is essential in the design and planning process as they assess the integrity of soil, clay, silt, sand, and rock, prior to construction commencing. Transport Engineering is the application of scientific and technological principles in the planning, functional design, operation and facilities management for any means of transport (road, rail, water and air) in order to provide a safe, fast, comfortable, convenient, economic travel for people and goods. Water engineering is a division of civil engineering, focusing specifically on water-based projects and may include water treatment, wastewater, or infrastructure development.
