Automobile Electrics and Electronics

Auto Electrics students service, repair and overhaul electrical and electronic vehicle systems from charging, starting, sighting, and alarms on all automobile engines. Students are equipped with hands-on skills and are prepared to undergo trade testing for Class One (1). Skilled Worker Qualification (journeyman card) on completion of the course. This qualification empowers them to be employable in the Automotive Industry as well as start their own companies.
In addition to the eight generic subjects listed above, the following core subjects are taught in Auto Electrics;
• Automobile Electrics and Electronics Technology
• Auto Electrics Workshop Practice and Processes

Proficiency and income generation activities

Auto Electrics students engage in the following proficiency areas and income-generation activities;
  • Electrical circuit fault diagnosis
  • Repairs and maintenance of electronic components
  • Overhauls of starter motors, alternators and re-wiring of circuits.

Trade testing for auto electricians

Upon completing a National Certificate in Automobile Electrics and Electronics, students will be eligible to register with the Manpower Trade Testing Department for Class One (1) Artisan Card (Journeyman).
