Metallurgical Assaying
Metallurgical Assayers focus on analyzing and testing the chemical composition and properties of metals, ores, and other materials. They figure out the best way to extract minerals of value or material of interest.
Roles and Functions:
Conduct chemical and physical analyses of ores, minerals, and metals.
Determine the composition and quality of materials.
Test metal properties (strength, hardness, corrosion resistance).
Prepare samples for analysis.
Operate laboratory equipment (spectrometers, microscopes).
Record and interpret data.
Assist metallurgists and engineers in research and development.
